Life-type Stuff

Let's see, where to start...? The move to the Seattle area is coming up quickly. I was there running around with my realtor last weekend and saw some really nice houses. As soon as I got back, my daughter had major ankle reconstruction surgery. Poor baby. She's miserably ill from the anesthesia but her attitude is stellar. Our biggest challenge is controlling her pain. She's a high tolerance chick that can't stand to be bedridden, but with twelve weeks of 'no pressure' on her ankle, bed ridden is pretty close to what she'll be.

With lots of life stuff happening I must admit that writing is just not at the top of the pile. Luckily I have a day job and can write when I pretty much feel like it. Part of it is that my Samhain editor is moving on and I was passed to someone else. I've sold on proposal to my Samhain editors before, but my new one doesn't know me. So it's like starting all over again. But no worries. The story I was hoping to sell on proposal will just have to wait - contracted work always takes precedence.

Just got home from the pharmacy - going to try a new medicine and hopefully it won't make my girl so nauseous. If I see her puke one more time, I may just join her!

Oh, and the HOLIDAY HOTTIES contest that we ran last year is coming up again. That contest was a blast! People gots oddles and oddles of stuff and it was such a big hit it's coming to a website near you.

Of course, subscriber to TJ On A Tangent newsletter will get the details first. Then we'll put it out there for everyone else.

Gotta run and check on my kid. See ya'll later!

Five Pounds of Makeup...Literally!

I'm not saying this article is not true, but I'm a bit of a cynic and don't immediately believe everything I read. But check it - there's a study out that says you could have up to five pounds of chemicals in your body due to *drum roll, please* MAKE UP!

Check out the article at the Daily Mail and let me know what you think. I think that this is something like Shelley's post on women obsessed with their body shape to the point of ridiculousness. What did they do? Go find the most self-absorbed, image issue women in all creation for this article? Armpits

I don't know a single woman, I stress, NOT A SINGLE ONE, that obsesses about their makeup to the same point as these women. Hell, the women I know are so busy they don't have time to brush their teeth seven times a day! Let alone use four cans of deodorant a week! There isn't that much funk in all the world to need that much body odor controller!

Whatcha think? Am I nuts?

Old People Sex! (xPost)

I'm at a conference for work at a swanky hotel about 30 minutes from my house. We have about 25 customers and prospects that have flown in from out of town, including Germany, London and Puerto Rico.

Last night I was sitting with the folks from Puerto Rico and they started telling stories.

About a year ago one of the guys and his wife went to the first all-inclusive report to open on their part of the island. They place was so overbooked they stood in line for almost an hour just trying to check in. Mind you, they had reservations and everything. So they checked into the hotel, but instead of going right up to their room, they went to dinner and asked the bellhops to take their luggage up.

Dinner was fabulous. Atmosphere was awesome. Now it was time to go to bed. FINALLY!

Then went up to their room, opened the door and had an incredible surprise waiting for them: TWO VERY OLD PEOPLE HAVING MAD MONKEY SEX IN THEIR BED.

The woman was so mortified, she jumped out of the bed and started waving at them while screeching, "Who are you? Who are you?"

Honey, I think that was the time to actually burrow under the covers! Needless to say, my friends received a free weekend at the resort...which they graciously accepted even after the hotel offered for them to stay in the room anyway.

I would have been moritified! But...I do feel a story coming on... Actually, this is one of the things Alaan used to keep his mind on business and off of his woman's backside while he was supposed to be hunting - old people sex!

Damn, I'm Tired...

Hey ya'll,

I'm a bit late with my post. I just flew into town and dragged my tired butt home from the airport a couple of hours ago - travelin' for work. The trip was pretty good - I had to go to a customer site and teach 'em how to use the software they just bought from the folks who own my day job.

But you know, I'm such a home body, I stayed at the Hyatt and still found something to make me wanna go home. There's no bed like my bed (sigh....ahhhh!) There's no food like my daughter's cookin (though it was bit on the dry side today). There's no lawn like the one my son mows so nicely.

If it's not on a vacation with my family, damn it, I just don't wanna go! When did that happen? I used to like traveling. I used to enjoy room service and having them run up and deliver stuff. Yep, even this most recent stay was pleasant, but I think I'm just flat out spoiled...by my kids!

Hey, now that I think about it, there's a bit of that woven into my book, Gift Wrap Optional (Ellora's Cave). Now, if I could just find (or be found by) a guy on the cover of that damned book. Whew baby!
